To introduce the child around 4.5 - 5 years old after pre-writing activities such as practical life, sensorial, tracing shapes and forms, and sandpaper letters. Make sure your child has proper pressure to the pencil.

This is great to practice hand and eye coordination, letter recognition, and wrist motion by tracing the letters.

  1. To associate sound of the letter with their graphic symbols both lowercase and uppercase

  2. To develop printing skills

  3. To experience the wrist, hand, and arm motion with the letters

  4. To develop concentration and coordination with a pencil

  5. To match lowercase to uppercase (capital letters) letters

  6. To match cursive vs print letters

To introduce the child to trace the letters and making connection to the sound. This fun tracing exercises where one needs to prepare a box with at least 5 crayons or pencils in different colours. Present the child first how to trace the letter with their finger and then with the crayon or pencil. Name the letter with the phonetic sound. Let the child trace multiple times the letter with the different crayons/pencils so the end-effect is a colourful letter. Introduce 3 to 4 letters at the time. The child can always repeat this activity by going back to his/her booklet and trace the letters with other colours.

Introduce the child to the lowercase first in the following order or any logical order from your experience. Below is an example to which you can present. You will notice that within the first 4 groups there is a vowel which the child can start learning to compose 3 letter words.

1: c m a t

2: s r i p

3: b f o g

4: h j u l

5: d w e n

6: k q v x y z

*Also check out the sandbox letters under freebies and for more advanced writing, matching letters and the tracing letters booklets (multiple) under shop.

My materials are designed on an A4 sized paper to be printed on actual size.
